This list is divided into Red, Amber and Green. For the drugs included in the red section the prescribing and ongoing supply is NORMALLY undertaken by a consultant or other physician within Secondary Care. Those in the amber section are normally initiated by a specialist although the GP may agree to continue the prescribing with the support of the specialist. Some drugs in the amber section, such as atomoxetine used in the treatment of ADHD, may be the subject of a shared care protocol. The supply of drugs in the green section can be initiated by the GP and, by default, includes all drugs not found in the red or amber sections. Contractors are reminded that the RTL drugs are included in the Prescribing Optimisation Scheme. Through this enhanced service the GP can be informed where they have prescribed a drug listed in the red section.
