Contractors will need to be aware that Contract Assessment Teams from the PCT will soon be starting the first round of visits. Pharmacies will get at least 28 days notice of the visit to give them time to assemble the necessary evidence. A 2-Page Form At Last!
The Department of Health legal boys have finally signed off the new 2-page MUR form. The form is much simpler to use than the old, 4 page document. GPs will also find the form simpler to use. |

Disposal of Waste - Latest Guidance |

The Department of Health, following discussions with PSNC, has published the latest guidance on the disposal of pharmaceutical waste in community pharmacies. This guidance will update that published by PSNC and so changes will have to be made to the Contract Workbook in the next version. In the meantime, the guidance can be accessed through this link. |

 Bag of Crystal Meth Contractors and pharmacy staff will be aware of the need for vigilance when selling products containing pseudoephedrine. There is a risk that if pharmacy fails to meet the relevant guidelines then these products will gain POM status. The Royal Pharmaceutical Society have recently issued a Law and Ethics Bulletin providing advice on such sales. There is also a training package available, for a small charge, via the Chemist & Druggist. Click here for details. |
